This has been on my mind more and more lately as I see and hear people who are doom and gloom about the economy. It always starts with, “Well, with this economy, who knows right?” I terminate this kind of conversation as quickly as possible for several reasons.

First, your mind doesn’t need negative energy being constantly fed to it. Now I’m not saying you don’t acknowledge bad things. What I’m saying is you acknowledge facts, not feelings. Very few people have been effected by this current job market and economic condition but every body talks like they are going to lose everything tomorrow. The reason is because people feel like the times are bad so they perceive that they are. Your perception shapes your reality. Be careful what you feed your mind.

Second, people don’t want their perception changed. I have talked till I was blue in the face and people either look at me like I’m crazy, stupid, or lying. It just doesn’t sink in. Most people are slow to change their attitude and state and see the “news” as the correct source of information.

Third, what’s the point? Even if it was true (which it isn’t) what good would it do to sit around feeling sorry and bad. Not a productive or happy conversation.

So lets talk about facts.

The world is always changing and always will be changing. We will never be in the same state and place in time ever again. The rate at which the world is changing is increasing drastically every year as more country’s industrialize and become modern. With the speed and ease of transportation the world is becoming better connected all the time. This brings us to the biggest ignored fact in the American mind. We are in a global economy. In fact, we have been in a global economy since the early 1900s but most people didn’t notice until the Japanese and Koreans started exporting cars.

The real question is what are you going to do about it? This change that is occurring is neither bad nor good. It just is. However with change comes opportunity. What if I told you you could outsource your website development to India and get it done for 1/8 the cost or you could hire a PHD to do your business market research for less than $13 and hour? Imagine if I told you you could outsource almost every aspect of a business and get it done for pennies on the dollar compared to 4 years ago? What kind of effect would this have on your business or your soon to be business? You can do all of the above right now. The times aren’t changing… they already changed. So why aren’t you changing? The latest trend is outsourcing. In 10 years almost everything will be outsourced. Get ahead of the curve and increase your profits. If you have any doubt of this read The Four Hour Work Week by Tim Ferris and call the 800 number on the back of your credit card.

Quote of the week
People are born originals and most die copies…..

This quote jumped out and slapped me in the face when I read this. I remember working for an employer and feeling like I was a square block being jammed in the same round hole as everyone else.

If you feel like the real you is being pushed aside or stepped on, take a moment and read this quote. There is only one you and you only have one life. Seize it.
