Today is a good day. The sun is shining, the phones are ringing, I’m getting presented with more “once in a lifetime deals” than I can filter through myself, and our buyers are hungry! This is truly the time that we will look back on when we talk about the “good ole days” and the defining moments of our businesses. About being continually amazed by our City, I was invited out to dinner and drinks last Sunday in Corktown in Detroit (around the old ball stadium Tiger Stadium) to a great restaurant Slow’s. Going to the restaurant I saw an area of many old Victorian homes that had been renovated with what looked to be young professionals going in and out of the houses. Going to the restaurant and one of the local Irish pubs afterwards, my thoughts were confirmed. On a Sunday night I found Slow’s and the other bar to be packed with young professionals, college students, older couples, and just about everyone else. An area that was virtually unknown to me the day before I found out is thriving with renovation and businesses that are doing more than just “okay”.

Each week the Detroit Free Press (www.Freep.com) posts the recent home sales for Wayne County and most importantly the City of Detroit. What I’ve found by looking at this list is that I’m continually amazed by the higher prices and strong sales that we’re seeing. Of course we would all like to see more sales but homes within the City are still selling for strong prices and they’re selling in the areas we like to invest in like North West Detroit. Continuing Education
I was absolutely blown away last night at the Oakland Business Forum (www.OaklandBusinessForum.com) put on by my good friends Adam Davis, Dylan Tanaka, and Nathan Mayes. The CEO of ePrize Josh Linkner came to speak to us about not only his company but entrepreneurship, company culture, and some of his values. It was an excellent topic for our current market and an absolutely dynamic speaker that kept my attention the whole time. Kudos to the Oakland Business Forum and Adam Davis for really setting the bar. I will definitely be back to their next meeting on Tuesday March 18th at 6:00 for networking and what I’m sure will be another bar setting presentation.
