This is a really great post! I was born & raised & educated in the city of Detroit, and still have very close ties to the city with numerous family, friends, and associates who live and/or work there. And not to mention the great attractions, restaurants, and night life that keeps those in the know repeatedly coming back for more. It kills me when people perpetuate the very myths & misconceptions you speak of in this post & yet have no real clue about life in the city. Detroit is bursting at the seams with great neighborhoods to live and invest in, especially in northwest Detroit. And just as you said, in any big city, there will be some areas you want to avoid. Just be sure to avoid those particular areas, but if you avoid the city as a whole, you're missing out! More than ever before, there's great investment opportunity in the D!
