Urban Detroit Wholesalers has been extremely fortunate lately with the amount of media attention our company is receiving. This is shining a positive light on the City of Detroit and out of state investors. Detroit needs all the stories like this it can get. One story leads to another story…. It started with the front page of the Detroit Free Press

Then NPR contacted us and wanted to do the story as well for there listeners. This aired live around the nation 3 days ago. Follow the link and listen to it on the NPR website.

Then PBS Nightly business report contacted my partner Jared and they filmed him with the story to be released sometime in May. Last but not least, a national magazine dedicated to Real Estate Investing is going to do a story on Detroit and Urban Detroit Wholesalers.

Wow is about all I can say about this. I’ve been screaming for a year and a half about what a great investment opportunity Detroit is but now everyone is listening. This means the little known secret of investing in Detroit is about to be a little less secret. Of course there is still time before the whole world knows. Jared won’t be on TV until May and the magazine won’t run the story until June. But the clock is definitely ticking on this little known secret….

What motivates success?
I study successful people on a daily basis and I’m fascinated by what makes people successful. I wish I can divulge some little know secret that will bring instant success and fame but the fact of the matter is, there is none.

What makes a single mother of 2 with a 3^rd on the way, with bad credit, little money, and short on time (she works full time and goes to college) figure out how to make 5 deals work in the last 6 months? I personally know several people that I like and respect very much who have gobs of money, great credit, and all the time in the world and they haven’t done a single deal. Why not?

The only characteristic that I find common among those who are successful is they have MADE UP MINDS. They decided they were going to be successful and they didn’t let the world or anybody else for that matter stop them. Darrick Scruggs of The Power to be Free local investment group reminded us last night,”Nothing beats a made up mind.” People who are successful decide to be successful, others don’t. My mother always reminds me that not choosing is choosing. I think it’s time we ALL look ourselves in the mirror and choose. What’s it going to be?

Time for excellence in all we do
When did just okay become acceptable? Did I miss the meeting where doing and being exceptional things was voted down? While we are examining our lives, lets look a little deeper. What are you doing half assed that should be embarrassing you? Be honest. I know I have been cheating on my fitness program this year and I’m embarrassed about it. I have had contact with several local and out of state businesses who do not take pride in their work and were extremely rude when asked about why they lied to me. I know some of us might be in jobs that we dislike or maybe we might be working harder than we should. Remember though, what you do and how you do it reflects not just on your company, but you. Do you want to be seen as a person who is rude or half asses every thing you do? I doubt it. From here on out, lets all demand excellence in our lives and the lives around us. It is not okay to be or do just okay.
